Take Away Nesting Boxes

These 'take-away' nesting boxes were upcycled from discarded cardboard boxes. Drilling an entry hole suitable for Blue Tits and Greats Tits in one rectangular box and cutting the other box diagonally in order to make a roof, allowed for the creation of the make shift nesting boxes. I then painted and varnished the boxes with eco-friendly paint so that they would withstand one nesting season if placed in a sheltered location. It was my hope that the exhibition inspired others to interact with their surrounding environments in positive and sustainable ways. For this reason, visitors were invited to take a nesting box and hang it in their gardens at home.
